Beyond a Colorblind Constitution

On October 7th, 2022, Suzzallo Library held its 17th annual U.S. Constitution reading and reflection event. AES professor, La TaSha Levy, took to the podium to reflect upon the meaning of the Constitution in today’s contemporary world. From topics of exploitation, colorblindness, and political hypocrisy, the event examined how the Constitution was constructed to establish freedom for some and condoned slavery for others, further emphasizing the dehumanization of African American peoples in the basic principles of the United States.
