This past weekend, our very own Connie So was interviewed by the local FOX station KCPQ in response to the rise in hate crimes targeting Asian Americans in the Seattle Area particularly the Chinatown-International District. Along with Japanese American Citizens League Seattle Chapter Co-President Stan Shikuma and Maria Batayola of the Filipino American Political Action Group of Washington, Professor So demanded city leaders including Mayor Bruce Harrell take action against discrimination towards Asian Americans in Seattle.
So, Batayola and Shikuma have created a petition in order for the city to create accountability by funding safety coordinators in the CID as well as establishing a press conference between Mayor Harrell and SPD Chief Adrian Diaz about supporting the CID's community. Community members are encouraged to sign the petition which can be found here
Connie So welcomes all the allies and partners who had enough of the violence towards Asian Americans. More information about her interview with KCPQ can be found at their website
