Jacque Waita and Kell Juan at the 2025 UW World Language Fair

On Sept. 18, 2025, the University of Washington hosted a World Language Fair at Denny Hall to allow students to learn more about all of the benefits of studying a language, including career paths, scholarships, study abroad opportunities, and more! Associate Teaching Professor for Swahili, Jacque Waita, and Assistant Teaching Professor for Tagalog, Kell Juan, both language professors from the Dept. of American Ethnic Studies, attended to represent their respective language they teach and to talk about their classes with students.

The UW World Language Fair is a place for students to meet folks from UW's many language programs, clubs, and centers! The UW campus is linguistically and culturally rich, with students, faculty, and staff speaking many languages.
