Study of Chicana/o prose fiction, from its beginnings to the present. Focusing on the study of selected novels, this course explores the cultural and historical context of the Chicana/o experience. Key issues include the dynamics of production and reception, the politics of identity, race and racism, gender and sexuality.

Catalog Description: 
Examines nineteenth- and early twentieth-century fiction, as well as contemporary works in attempts to trace the development of Chicano fiction in the proper historical trajectory. Taught in English.
