GLOBAL PANDEMICS AND RACISM
THIS COURSE WILL EXPLORE HOW THE
FRAMING, MANIFESTATION, AND
MANAGEMENT OF GLOBAL PANDEMICS,
INVOLVE THE ONGOING SYSTEMS OF
RACISM, COLONIALISM, AND CAPITALISM
USING SOCIAL, HISTORICAL, AND
CULTURAL SOURCES, STUDENTS WILL
FOCUS ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
THESE "NATURAL" HEALTH DISASTERS AN
THE MAKING, REPRODUCTION, AND
EVERYDAY RELIANCE ON GLOBALIZED
RACIAL DOMINATION, DISCRIMINATION,
AND DIFFERENCE.
Catalog Description:
Advanced study of race and ethnicity in a critical and comparative context. Examines social, cultural, historical, political and economic experiences of racialized communities in AES major. Social science theories and methods used to study various topics, including education; migration, refugee, carceral and legal studies; politics and public policy, social movements, global health, and environment.
